A monthly evening meeting, held in Ombersley 7pm - 9pm, for younger people living with dementia and their families. It is a service which offers education and information. A guest speaker attends the first part of the evening to talk about very varied topics (for example Lasting Power of Attorney, Heating and Energy Advice or The Fire Service discussing Home Safety). The second part of the evening has a more creative feel with local artists attending to lead an activity (for example dance, pottery, painting or singing).
On alternative evenings, whilst the creative aspect of the evening is running, there is an opportunity for any family carers to attend the Family Voice Meeting for support, discussion and to have an influence on local developments. The local Admiral Nursing Service and Worcestershire Association of Carers support with this meeting.
Connection Point is jointly run by Alzheimer’s Society and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust – with staff from both organisations supporting. Colleagues from Onside Advocacy and our local Dementia Advice Service (Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire) also attend the evening. Having so much support from different local agencies is one of the real strengths of the meeting as people are able to meet staff from local services and have a greater understanding of them.
Free transport to this meeting can be arranged.
