Taking a break and enjoying a holiday and outdoor activity can seem like an impossibility to people with dementia and their carers. As an alternative to traditional respite, Dementia Adventure provide fully supported short breaks for people living with dementia, their partners, family, friends or carer to enjoy together.
They create breaks around the UK, suitable for all abilities that focus on what people can achieve rather what they cannot. Their clients are supported by trained Dementia Adventure team members throughout the break—an extra pair of hands to help with as little or as much as they require.
'It made me feel more like a human being again. It has opened new doors to friendship.'
'An adventure can ‘remove’ the dementia for a little while.'
'Having not attempted a holiday for 14 years he has come back planning his next.'
Dementia Adventure offer specific breaks for people with young onset dementia. To find out more information please visit their website here.
