Please note - due to the coronavirus situation, most service providers are not currently able to offer face to face support.  They may still be offering support via email and telephone and some have moved their groups online in order to comply with social distancing rules.  Some services have temporarily ceased operating.  We apologise if the information provided is out-of-date. 

DEEP Groups
The Dementia Engagement & Empowerment Project (DEEP) brings together groups of people with dementia from across the UK.  DEEP supports these groups to try to change services and policies that affect the lives of people with dementia.  Whilst not young onset specific, many of the DEEP groups are well attended by younger people with dementia.  

tide (together in dementia everyday)
tide offer a number of online groups to help keep carers connected.  Their UK-wide young onset carers group meet (virtually) on the first Tuesday of every month at 10am.  They provide a safe space for family carers to share their experiences.  The group is free to attend for tide members.

This group is for partners and carers to get together.  They organise activities including art therapy, stress management and relaxation.

Scottish Dementia Working Group
A group run by people with dementia and funded by Alzheimer Scotland and the Scottish Government.  They operate independently as a national involvement group for people with dementia within Alzheimer Scotland and are a friendly and inclusive group, led by, and for people with dementia.  They have an elected committee (which includes a number of people who are living with young onset dementia) and dedicated members of staff who support the group's campaigning work.

This group offers support and advice for people who have a diagnosis of young onset dementia.  It meets every second Wednesday between 12:00pm and 2:00pm and offers information and advice .

South Lanarkshire Early Onset Service User Support Group

Information and advice, education on dementia and associated themes, support with signposting to services, support from other people with dementia.

Young Onset Dementia Service

The service is made up of two clinical psychologists, an occupational therapist (OT), community psychiatric nurse (CPN), and secretarial support who can offer support and advice.

These support groups are led by a psychologist and nurse and are for people affected by young onset dementia, their family members and carers. 

  • The Clydebank group meets at Tower Centre, Kilbowie St. Andrews Parish Church, Melfort Avenue, Clydebank, G81 2HX on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month between 10.30am-12.30pm.
  • The Eastwood groups meets at the Greenhouse Cafe, Eastwood Health & Care Centre, Drumby Crescent, G76 7HN on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month between 1.00-3.00pm.
  • The Greenock group meets at Beacon Arts Centre, Custom House Quay, Greenock on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month, between 10.30am-12.30pm.
  • The Inverclyde group meets every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month between 10.30am-12.30pm.
  • The Lenzie group meets at Old Gatehouse, Lenzie, Woodilee Road, Kirkintilloch, G66 3FB on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month between 10.30am-12.30pm.
  • The Paisley group meets at the Malatso Cafe, 50 High Street, Paisley, PA1 2DJ every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month between 10.30am-12.30pm.
